Merry Christmas!

We love Christmas...It is such a fun season of the year..hearing Christmas carols at the stores, hearing our saviours name being celebrated through out the country..It is wonderful!

This December we are doing many things to love our city! Please keep praying for these following events...

Saturday 8th December....Outreach at a local supermarket Tesco..We are doing an interactive Nativity Play with a group of young people called "Fire Starters"...( This is a great answer to prayer that Tesco will let us do that inside the store!) We will also be leafleting around the houses and handing out Christmas cards and candles to our neighbours...

Christmas Hampers...as many of you know that we have been fund raising money through our Champions Charity Shop...(It is going great!) This money is helping us to make up Christmas hampers to the elderly and people struggling this Christmas...We are making over 100 hampers...Before Christmas we will be delivering these to people in the community. Please keep praying that this practical acts of kindness will also bear much spiritual fruit and people will feel the love of Christ through our actions...

Friday, December 21st...Talent Show...We are having fun as a church and organising our annual talent show. Last year we had so much fun at this event with people showing of their talents that we decided to make it as an annual celebration...Again, we are believing that as people come along to have fun with us more new people will be added to our church family!

Christmas Eve, December 24th...We are doing a Candle Light Service and the children performing their Christmas Nativity Play...

Please pray that God will make us fruitful in these various outreaches that we are doing... Our heart is to be a blessing! Thank you for all your support!

Kids Carnival

Hello Everyone!

Hope you are all doing well...Here are few updates on what has been happening in Champion Life Church.

On October 31st we organised a Community Outreach Event, Kids Carnival, providing an alternative to the "Halloween" celebrations...We had lots of fun, no scary costumes and 198 children from the community to come out (plus their parents..The house was full of people!!)! We had hired a Christian magician who was able to share the gospel in a fun and interesting way... all the children were totally focussed as he shared his faith while doing great tricks...

We are continuing working with the community and reaching out to the parents as they bring their children to the kids programme on every Tuesday night. Recently we have opened "a coffee room" for the parents who come and drop their children to "Kids Hour"...We offer donuts and coffee and a relaxed space to chill while the children are having fun in their activities! Few of the parents have already come along...It has been lovely to make new connections with our community! Please keep praying for this outreach!

Blessings, Paul and Heini

Charity Shop

Hey Everyone!
We are in the middle of an exciting new project!
On the 15th September we will open our own Charity Shop called "Champions Charity Shop". This is very exciting as it opens up many new doors of opportunity...Charity Shops (second hand shops) are very popular in Scotland....
1. The shop will enable us to generate funds for the local projects we want to do in the church and the community.
2. It will build friendships as people volunteer and work together for a common cause.
3. It will give people who are unemployed a sense of purpose and opportunity to develop new skills ie. serving customers...Many of our volunteers are ex-drug users, or others who have had other life controlling issues in their lives.
4. We will open up a "coffee" corner at the back of the shop which will give opportunities for witnessing, praying and sharing about the love of God to the people/customers who come to the shop.
We would like to ask that you keep us in prayer...Please pray that the shop will generate more money we could have ever even dreamed or imagined and that we can indeed be a light in our local community.
Here is a photo of Ann and Bob, volunteering and painting some of the furnishings of the shop...

Germany Mission Trip

In the month of May Paul and Heini had the opportunity to go on a seven day missions trip to Rosenheim, Germany. They reported back how their heart for the nations have been expanded in many ways. They have a passion to travel the world, and bring the gospel to people wherever God sends them. They were with a team of seven people who were mainly evangelizing, and being released in taking meetings to release healing and the prophetic word of the Lord. The church in Rosenheim is called Destiny Church. In the picture Paul and Heini stand with Pastor Liam Smith a Scotsman called to Germany. The trip was a real success!

Champion Life Church Testimony

We have been thrilled to see so many new faces in our Sunday morning services and the church growing! Our Sunday school director, Margaret, has just recently written a testimony about Champion Life Church for the community...
"Champion Life Church is one of the best churches in Glasgow. Since I started going there 4 years ago I have seen so many miracles, signs and wonders which have changed my whole life and accelerated my faith 100 %. I never knew the Christian life could be so exciting and relevant for the problems people face today. I was a Christian when I started coming to CLC but I wasn't walking in total freedom from the effects of a very dysfunctional Glasgow upbringing. I didn't realise that this church was going to revolutionise my life by showing me how to have such an intimate relationship with the living God which would heal me in every area of my life. Sin no longer has a hold over me and I am being transformed every day into the person God always intended me to be. Through the teaching, powerful times of worship and the face to face encounters with God that we are privileged to experience week in and week out, I now believe anything is possible and there is nothing that God cannot do. I am living the blessed life and I want to see others healed, set free and living for Jesus Christ. My husband, son and daughter have all seen the power of God in so many different ways every day and God has a unique and exciting purpose for them too.

I currently have a great job of working with prisoners, serving my family and the church and living life to the full. I highly recommend coming to church to anyone who is searching for answers and wants to see God at work in their lives."

Renovations in Progress!

Good things happening here in Scotland!

More happenings in March... Praise God our church building is really beginning to shine! Taryn headed up a project and team of people from within the church to re-do the kids Sunday School room. The pictures really show the transformation! The kids have had a few Sundays in the new room and totally love it. This room is used for our younger kids (ages 4-8) so it gives them plenty of room to play and for the class to grow.

The "before" shot, all cleared out and ready to go!

Making progress! Almost done... And finally, the after!

Taryn was definitely relieved to see the stripes turn out straight and crisp haha.

Mother's Day

Hello, hello, hello! Can't wait to catch you up on what's been going on over here in Scotland!

The month of March is full of some great memories, but here are just a few of our highlights.
It started with a great weekend on March 3rd to celebrate Mother's Day with a mother-daughter brunch called Sugar, Spice and Everything Nice. Taryn's mom came for two weeks to visit her so the two of them had a great time putting this day together for our church. In the UK we celebrate Mother's day in March instead of May... what a great surprise for Taryn's mom Rakyel to spend an early Mother's Day with her daughter!

The church coffee room looked great decorated in pink with sugar, spice and everything nice of course. Our morning started with a beautiful and delicious breakfast, followed by a few games and fellowship. It turned out to be a great day for mom's to connect with each other while their little girls had a great day together as well! Rakyel was a wonderful encouragement to our mothers here and had the chance to share a bit of what God had laid on her heart for them. All in all, quite a success and a fresh way to start off the Springtime here!

The decorations finished and set up in the coffee room

Lots of fun with games!
Who can draw the best picture of their mother/daughter... on a paper plate.. and on their head???

Spa Night for Women

More praise reports!
As you may have just read, Friday night was a great success in Glasgow City. Our second half of the outreach was on the following Sunday. The sanctuary was completely transformed into a beautiful candle lit and peaceful environment. Plenty of ladies in the church came to be apart of this night in doing different things for it. The night was called 'Simply Beautiful' and it was full of beauty treatments for everyone. Choices there were things like nails, hair, facials, massages, eyebrows and even foot spas! It was definitely well worth all the effort put into the whole weekend. God had such greater plans instore for this project than we had ever imagined! We had several visitors from the community come. We were so thrilled when two of the girls we had met on Friday in the streets came as well.

Outreach to the streets of Glasgow

On Friday the 27th January we had an opportunity to go out to the streets of Glasgow. Our aim was to show God's love to the homeless and the girls on the streets. We carried hot coffee, tea and soup to serve to anyone we encountered. We had great opportunities to share the gospel and pray for people. We also invited the girls to a special spa night at the church.

Here are some pictures of getting ready to go out Friday night.

Baptisms

Thank you for standing in faith with us for Scotland!
We want to give glory to God for the baptisms of Sarah-Jane, Alistar and Kellie from our church family. We baptised them in the month of December. Please keep praying for them as they are growing in God and finding their place in the body of Christ.

Ladies Bible Study

Hey, back so soon :)
This has already been a great year starting for Champion Life Church and again, we just can't wait to share about it! Our first week of January we had a ladies Bible study on the book of James. Our intern student Taryn taught the course of this week and had such a great time teaching it as well as preparing for it.
This week was titled "A walk in the park with James". A name partly out of pure irony that the book of James is anything less than a walk in the park. But also to describe each chapter as we walked through it. Learning how to "live it" when our dear friend James takes us through different emotions on our "walk in the park" together. I'm sure you know the kind of walks I mean... those most priceless and honest times with friends that encourage you to press on in life wherever you're at.
The outcome of this week was far beyond expectations and a divine appointment for each one of us individually! Every night was full of God through prayer, His very presence, His word and His gentle whispers to us. So amazing. A few weeks have passed since the Bible study and you can tell by some of these ladies, that it was not just something they appreciated but they applied. That it did more than touch them but changed them. God is so good!

Have a great and prosperous 2012!

Hello from Scotland! We are excited to post these next few blogs up and show you some of the most recent photos of the events we have organised in Champion Life Church in Scotland.

We have worked hard trying to reach out to more people in our community and loving those who are already part of our church family.

These photos are from our December Talent Show and Christmas Party. Three new families came from the community to this fun night of lots of lauhter and good food. People from our own church family got so excited to show of their talents, we had talents from "Abba Dancing Queen Show " to a more traditional poem reading and childrens puppet show.

Everyone had so much fun and new relationships were built.

Enjoy the photos! Lots of love from Paul, Heini, Josiah and Gloria
